Foot Care
1. Look at your feet every day. Use good lighting and wear your glasses
when checking for:
-Dry cracked skin
-Cracks between your toes
-Blisters, cuts, scratches, or other sores
-Redness, swelling or discolored skin
-Increased warmth or tenderness (feel with your hand)
-Ingrown toenails, corns and calluses
If you are unable to check the bottom of your feet use a mirror or
get someone else to look at them.
| ANY CONCERNS SHOULD BE PROMPTLY BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF YOUR
DOCTOR. |

2. Wash your feet every day
-Use mild soap and warm, not hot water. Check water temperature with
wrist or elbow first.
-Do not soak feet for longer that 10 minutes, as it will tend to
dry the skin.
-Dry your skin thoroughly especially between your toes.
Taking Care of Your Feet
-If your feet are dry apply lotion or cream but not between your toes.
- If you use foot powder use sparingly and avoid putting between
toes.
-Cut toenails when they are soft following washing. Trim your toenails and file corners to the shape of your toe.
If you cannot cut your own toenails seek the help of a foot-care
nurse or doctor.
-If your nails are thick, rough, yellowish green in color, you
may have a fungal infection. See your doctor about this.
